Boston College Dining Services has received a Gold Award from the National Association of College & University Food Services in the organization鈥檚 annual Sustainability Awards, which recognize leadership in the promotion and implementation of environmental sustainability as it relates to campus dining operations.
BCDS was the winner in the category of Waste Management, which according to NACUFS honors institutional members 鈥渨ho minimize waste sent to landfills and wastewater systems by diverting biodegradable waste to compost or other landfill deferred systems and maximizing recycling efforts throughout dining services.鈥
BCDS鈥檚 previous accolades from NACUFS include a Sustainability Gold Award for Education and Outreach in 2018 for its 鈥淔RESH to Table鈥 initiative鈥攚hich promotes local, sustainable food options in New England, with a focus on community awareness and education鈥攁nd the Loyal E. Horton Dining Award in 2020 for Heights Ramen, a popular campus event that celebrated Japanese culture and cuisine and offered students an immersive dining experience.
